The Town of Dyer receives treated lake Michigan water from Hammond through the Town of Highalnd and the Town of Munster.  The water pressure and chlorine is boosted at the Calument Avenue Booster Station and subsequently distributed to elevated water storage tanks throughout the town for delivery to our residents.  This distribution system consists of:

  • Redundant supply lines for Town of Highland and the Town of Munster
  • 84 miles of distribution line
  • 1,119 valves
  • 1,089 hydrants
  • 5.25 million gallons of water storage

All this infrastructure is operated and maintained by the Department of Public Works
