Dyer Parks and Recreation issues two different types of permits:
Park Facility permits (commonly called Picnic Permits or Shelter Reservations) and Athletic Field permits.
Park Facility Permits (Shelter Reservation Fees)
Permits are issued for the shelters at four different parks: Elmer Miller Park, Northgate Park, Pheasant Hills Park, and Central Park. Permit applications are accepted beginning in January for that same calendar year. Dates are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of payment. Sites are available from April 1st to October 15th each year. Daily reservations can begin no earlier than 9 am (excluding Elmer Miller Park), and guests must exit the park by dusk. All parks have electricity available. Permanent grills are available at Elmer Miller and Northgate Parks. (Water and permanent restrooms not available to mid-April.)
Please be aware that your facility permit does not guarantee exclusive use of the park. There is a good chance that softball or soccer may be held in the park on the same day as your facility reservation. The Northgate Park shelter has a concession stand operated by an outside vendor to the Town, and they are contractually allowed to be open any day between April 1st and September 30th each year. In the past, the concession stand was usually closed on Sundays.
