Employment application forms are also available in person at the Parks and Recreation office during office hours.

Dyer Parks and Recreation has seasonal employment opportunities for a number of recreational activities each summer. Employment applications are reviewed throughout the year as program staffing needs are formed. Part-time office clerks, recreation program leaders, and recreation program coordinators are the three categories where staff are employed

Volunteer Opportunities

Dyer Parks & Recreation is always looking for volunteers for various programs and events. Such programs & events include the Daddy Daughter Dance, Wii Bowling, Jr. Leaders, Easter Egg Hunt, Office Assistant, Spring Craft Fair, Bike Parade, and many others. This is an excellent opportunity for seniors who would like to help out in the community, adults who are available at various times, and teens who need service hours. If you are interested in helping out, please get in touch with the Dyer Parks & Recreation Department at (219) 865-2505.

The Junior Leader application is available in the box to the left. The Junior Leader program is for youth in grades 6-12 who are looking to serve their community. Junior Leaders also gain experience in a work-type environment by helping staff who instruct the various recreational programs offered by Dyer Parks and Recreation.

Closure restrictions for US 30, extending from US 41 to the state line.

Superior Construction is set to begin operations on or after April 21, 2024 and is expected to last through May 5, 2024. The work will commence on the left lanes and the center turn lane, from US 41 to Calumet Avenue, and will then extend from Calumet Avenue to the state line.

Following the completion of the center lanes, the focus will shift to the EB right lanes (outside lanes) from the state line to Calumet Ave, where patching and ADA ramp construction will take place.

The sequence of operations will continue as follows:

  • After finishing the EB right lanes from the state line to Calumet Ave, work will proceed on the EB right lanes from Calumet Ave to US 41.
  • Once the EB right lanes from Calumet Ave to US 41 are complete, attention will turn to the WB right lanes from US 41 to Calumet Ave.
  • Finally, the WB right lanes from Calumet Ave to the state line will be addressed.

Each phase aims to ensure the timely and efficient completion of patching operations and the installation of ADA-compliant ramps. Thank you for your cooperation as we work towards these improvements.
