Mission Statement

The Dyer Parks & Recreation Department strives to provide and maintain quality recreation facilities, parks and programs which enhance the physical, social and emotional well-being of all the citizens of the Town of Dyer. It is vital that the Parks & Recreation Department be responsive to the leisure and recreational needs of its citizens.

OktoberFest
The Centennial Committee is at it again. Another festival to celebrate the 2010 Town of Dyer Centennial. This time, come out for the 10.10.10. OktoberFest at Elmer Miller Park. Right behind Town Hall on Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 4-10pm we will have food, a beer garden, Live Music by The Relics, vendors, a bean bag contest and more.  More...

PLUM CREEK CENTER at Elmer Miller Park
Reservations are now being accepted for rental of the Plum Creek Center. This new facility opened in the fall of 2009 and has a capacity of 100. Call the Parks and Recreation office to schedule a time to visit the facility on the bank of Plum Creek.  More...

Centennial Parade 10.10.10
Coming Soon. The Town of Dyer Centennial Parade. Sunday, October 10, 2010. The parade will step off at 2:30pm from Hart Street and High Point Trail Drive. It will head north on Hart St. and end at Schulte St. near Zunis Pizza. It will head east on Schulte St. to Town Hall. Parade participants will unload in the Town Hall parking lot. Everyone is invited to attend the 10.10.10 OktoberFest behind Town Hall following the parade until 10pm.  More...

Gotta Go Derby
Have you ever dreamed of building your own soap box race car and racing it? To celebrate the Town of Dyer Centennial, join the 2010 Dyer Gotta Go Derby. There will be time trial dates to test run your car followed by race day which will be held on Sunday, September 12th on the Calumet Avenue bridge, west of Jewel in Dyer.  More...

Halloween Parade - Dyer Town Hall
Our 10th Annual Halloween Parade is back! Every year the parade gets bigger and better! ALL AGES are invited to dress up in their best Halloween Costume and join us as we Parade from Town Hall to Pheasant Hills Park and Back. First 200 kids will get a goodie bag. Prizes will be awarded for: Best Costume, Youngest in Costume, Oldest in Costume, Best Traditional Costume, and More!!!! This is a FREE event! Registration will be from 1:00 - 1:45 Pm and the parade begins at 2 PM from the Dyer Town Hall. Adult Volunteers are needed to assist with this event. Call (219) 865-2505 to volunteer

Dyer Parks & Recreation is seeking crafters for their 9th annual Holiday Shopping Spree & Craft Show on Saturday, November 20 from 10am to 3pm at Kahler Middle School 600 Joliet St. in Dyer. The cost to participate in the show is $40 + tax ($42.80) for a space without electric and $50 + tax ($53.50) for a space with electric . Spaces are approximately 8’ x 8’.
