Mission Statement

The Dyer Parks & Recreation Department strives to provide and maintain quality recreation facilities, parks and programs which enhance the physical, social and emotional well-being of all the citizens of the Town of Dyer. It is vital that the Parks & Recreation Department be responsive to the leisure and recreational needs of its citizens.

Park Board adopts Guidelines for Naming of Facilities
The Park Board approved a resolution in December, 2011 that sets forth guidelines regarding naming of parks and recreation facilities. More...

2012-2016 Parks and Recreation Master Plan
After working on assessing needs, collecting information, evaluating park sites, analyzing data, Board discussion and numerous public input meetings, the Dyer Parks and Recreation Board adopted the 2012-2016 parks and recreation master plan at their April 11, 2012 meeting. This master plan is necessary if the Town is to apply for any grants through the Indiana Department of Natural Resources such as the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). Previously the Town of Dyer has received funding through the LWCF for the development of Northgate Park and Pheasant Hills Park. The Dyer Parks and Recreation Board, comprised of John Eagan, Mike Kapitan, Theresa Scherzinger and Cathy Lareau completed this master plan in-house along with assistance from parks and recreation department staff which saved approximately $35,000 from hiring an outside consultant to assemble the plan.  More...

PLUM CREEK CENTER at Elmer Miller Park
Reservations are now being accepted for rental of the Plum Creek Center. This facility opened in the fall of 2009 and has a capacity of 100. Call the Parks and Recreation office to schedule a time to visit the facility on the bank of Plum Creek. Please note that new rental fees were passed as of March 15, 2013 which are effective immediately. The new fees are included in the attached brochure. More...
