<p>INDOT PRESS RELEASE:</p>

<ul>
 <li>A reduced speed limit of 35 mph for the work zone on US 30 between the Illinois State Line and US 41 beginning Wednesday, May, 15th through the Fall.</li>
 <li>Completed: There is currently a concrete restoration project taking place through this area, with full depth patching and joint repairs.</li>
 <li>Completed:&nbsp;There is also a preventative maintenance bridge deck overlay being done on the Plum Creek bridge between Hart Street and Moeller Street. This work is expected to wrap up on or around May 24th.&nbsp;</li>
 <li>Underway: US 30 will then have alternating lane closures between Castlewood Drive and St. John Road beginning on or after Tuesday, May 28th through late October for a bridge replacement project over Dyer Ditch. The reduced speed limit will remain in place through the duration of this project.&nbsp;</li>
 <li>
 <p>Underway: US 30 over Hart Ditch Bridge:&nbsp;There will be only one lane in each direction. The eastbound (EB) lane on US 30 will reduce to one lane (right lane) at Lake St., and the westbound (WB) lane will reduce to one lane (right lane) just west of Clark Rd. in Dyer, Indiana, and transition into the Left Lane closures on EB and WB US-30 between Lake Street and Keilman St.</p>

 <p>A truck route for the 11-foot width limit will be as follows:</p>

 <p>Eastbound (EB) US 30 to Northbound (NB) 394 to Eastbound (EB) 80/94 to Southbound (SB) US 41 to Eastbound (EB) US 30.</p>
 </li>
 <li>Westbound (WB) US 30 to Northbound (NB) US 41 to Westbound (WB) 80/94 to Southbound (SB) 394 to Westbound (WB) US 30.</li>
</ul>

<p>INDOT encourages drivers to allow extra time when driving through this area and to follow traffic directions carefully. Motorists should slow down, exercise caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A recent public information meeting in town discussed the upcoming South Shore station at the Munster/Dyer border. The pedestrian tunnel is now in place, and progress is being made on the Main Street extension and underpass. Service is still on plan&nbsp;to commence in May, 2025. Initially, 5-6 trains will run from Munster/Dyer to Chicago during morning and evening rush hours, with several shuttles to the Hammond transfer station throughout the day. Passengers can switch trains at Hammond for destinations like Chicago or Michigan City. Detailed schedules have yet to be revealed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Superior Construction is set to begin operations on or after April 21, 2024&nbsp;and is expected to last through May 5, 2024. The work will commence on the left lanes and the center turn lane, from US 41 to Calumet Avenue, and will then extend from Calumet Avenue to the state line.</p>

<p>Following the completion of the center lanes, the focus will shift to the EB right lanes (outside lanes) from the state line to Calumet Ave, where patching and ADA ramp construction will take place.</p>

<p>The sequence of operations will continue as follows:</p>

<ul>
 <li>After finishing the EB right lanes from the state line to Calumet Ave, work will proceed on the EB right lanes from Calumet Ave to US 41.</li>
 <li>Once the EB right lanes from Calumet Ave to US 41 are complete, attention will turn to the WB right lanes from US 41 to Calumet Ave.</li>
 <li>Finally, the WB right lanes from Calumet Ave to the state line will be addressed.</li>
</ul>

<p>Each phase aims to ensure the timely and efficient completion of patching operations and the installation of ADA-compliant ramps.
