Limbs need to be placed in the parkway between the curb and sidewalk. Limbs should not be placed in the street, nor should they be placed on the sidewalk or around a fire hydrant. The branch pile needs to be stacked neatly at the curb with the cut end pointing toward the street or, if they are too long, place them in the parkway with the cut end of the limbs pointing in the flow of traffic. Do not put anything else in the limb pile as this may cause serious damage to the equipment or the operators of the machine. Also, smaller piles of limbs and branches may be placed in your garbage can. Please make sure you only put bare limbs in the garbage can, as leaves create a greater fire hazard inside of the garbage truck.

Spring Clean-Up will be from April 7th through the 18th (2 weeks). During this time frame, leaves will be picked up and additional dumpsters will be at the Public Works complex for residential use. The leaves need to be placed in the parkway and kept off the streets and away from fire hydrants, storm water drains, and off the sidewalks. Please do not place limbs, rocks, bricks, or any other materials in the leaf pile. The additional dumpsters will be available during normal business hours 7am-3pm and on Saturday, April 12th from 7:00am to 12:00pm.

<dc:identifier>40f38ece-d463-46c4-b6ce-602d42a2dff9-43700</dc:identifier>

Jessica Chick

Leaf & Branch Pick-up

The Department of Public Works will kick off leaf pick-up in October.

The water service line is the smaller pipe that delivers water from the Town water main to your home. This inventory assessment is required by the Federal EPA for all public utilities to identify any remaining lead water service lines for future remediation efforts. You can conduct a simple visual check where the water line enters your home. Typically, this will be near the water meter for your home. Your assistance in performing this survey is greatly appreciated.

It will take about 4-6 weeks to complete the entire Town.

Hydrant flushing is routine maintenance for a water system and accomplishes the following:

•     Improves water quality by removing minerals that have collected in the water mains

•     By removing these minerals, the inside diameter of a water main is increased and therefore allows a better flow of water

•     A fire hydrant is a mechanical device; operation of a hydrant lubricates internal mechanisms

•     Hydrant deficiencies are noted and repaired as necessary to insure each hydrant will perform when needed for an emergency

Hydrant flushing may cause lower water pressure or temporarily discoloring the water during the process. If your water becomes discolored, run your cold tap for about 15 minutes or until the water runs clear.
