Redevelopment Commission Façade Improvement Program
The Dyer Redevelopment Commission has established a Façade Improvement Program as a means of assisting businesses located in the TIF District, with beautification projects. This is a 50/50 matching grant program that is applicable to façade improvements, landscape improvements and signage improvements. Applicants can apply for up to $25,000 in funding. We learned today that our waste hauler has completed the transition to a fully automated pickup service effective immediately. This means that all waste will be picked up using the mechanical “arms” to dump the garbage or recycling materials into their trucks.

Over the past 20 months the Dyer Department of Public Works has been installing new water meters in homes and businesses across Dyer. We are now over 90% complete. Once we finish this project, we can significantly reduce the cost of manually reading the meters, provide more accurate meter readings and improve the productivity of the billing process. The quiet zone project affecting the CN railroad crossings on Hart St. and Lake St. is expected to begin on May 20, 2013. The project will begin with a crossing improvement on the Lake Street crossing being constructed by CN followed by the work we need to do relative to the quiet zone work. As a result, the Lake Street crossing will be closed from May 20th through May 31st.
The Hart Street crossing will then be closed from June 3rd through June 7th. There will be a detour route posted during the construction. More...License and Registration Renewal Reminders
The rental registration fee is $25.00 and is due by January 31st. Late fee is additional $50.00 if not paid by the 31st.
Pet licenses are due by May 31st. The fee for spayed or neutered dogs is $5.00, for unsprayed or unneutered dogs the fee is $20.00. The fee is also $5.00 for spayed or neutered cats and $10.00 for unsprayed or unneutered cats.
Business licenses are due by April 1st. The fee is $75. If you do not register or renew your business license by April 1st, 2013 there will be a late fee of $300.
All of these are paid at the Clerk-Treasurer’s office. The hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and on Thursday 7:30 AM until 6:00 PM.
